Dear Constituent,

I write to share updates about my work on your behalf as the Congressman representing Northern Virginia.

Many changes are afoot in Washington, and I want to hear from you. I will hold my first town hall of 2025 in Arlington, this Thursday night:

RSVP: Rep. Beyer’s Town Hall at Yorktown HS, Arlington, on Thursday, January 16, at 7:00 PM

Constituent Services For Northern Virginians

In 2024, my office handled over 3,200 constituent cases, helping hundreds of families recover over $6 million from the IRS, Social Security Administration, Dept. of Veterans Affairs, and other agencies.

I am always happy to help however I can with constituent assistance, which you can request here or by calling 703-658-5403.

The office of my constituent services team just moved to a new location in Alexandria:

Getting Stuff Done In 2024

The session of Congress which just ended was unfortunately (but accurately) described by ABC News as “one of the least productive in U.S. history” – but I still managed to get things done for our district in 2024. Here are some highlights:

I secured over $13 million in federal funding for projects in Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax County, and Falls Church to support infrastructure improvements, Mount Vernon Trail enhancements, affordable housing, crime prevention efforts and early childcare expansion.

I helped author and enact the Fusion Energy Act to support America’s growing research and development into clean fusion energy.

I served on the bipartisan House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence, which released a comprehensive report with principles and recommendations for advancing American leadership and innovation on AI.

I helped secure expanded access to paid family and medical leave for veterans in the federal workforce, many of whom live and work in our community.

I introduced dozens of bills to make positive changes in Americans’ lives, including pieces of legislation to help all families build generational wealth, reform American elections, improve the disability claims process for veterans, and protect our nation’s biodiversity.

These are just some of the many things I worked on in 2024. While dysfunction and gridlock remain major obstacles, I am proud that we navigated the session of Congress without a government shutdown and managed to fund Ukraine’s continued defense against Russian aggression, thanks to the votes of the Democratic Caucus.

As we enter 2025, I am also proud to note that Medicare’s $2,000 cap on out-of-pocket costs for prescription drugs has taken effect. This was an important provision of the landmark Inflation Reduction Act, which I helped pass.

The Presidential Transition

I know that many of you had strong reactions to the presidential election. As I wrote in early November, it was “not the result I hoped for, but I respect the decision of the American electorate.”

As we prepare for the inauguration, I remain committed to working with members of either party for progress that truly makes our country better, but I also will not hesitate to stand up and defend our core values when they are attacked.

I wish you and your family the best as we enter a new year, and look forward to continuing to work on your behalf.

Best,
Don Beyer Signature
