Dear Constituent,

Two months into Donald Trump’s second presidency, I have heard many constituents from across Northern Virginia express feelings of anxiety, frustration, and fear. Thousands have lost jobs or are currently in a state of limbo as workforce reductions are considered by federal courts.

I believe Trump’s destruction of federal agencies and mass firings of federal employees are illegal, and I am fighting to stop them, while seeking prompt reinstatement of all wrongfully terminated workers.

Recent court rulings halted many of these actions. As litigation progresses, I am focused on helping federal workers navigate the extreme uncertainty of this moment. As the first in a series of events to support constituents and families affected by job cuts, I recently hosted a federal worker and contractor resource fair with our local government jurisdictions that featured unemployment assistance, financial and career planning advice, legal and policy discussions, food assistance and mental health resources, and more. Over a thousand people attended. Next in the series is an upcoming job fair with our local businesses, Chambers of Commerce and city and county offices of economic development. I look forward to providing more detailed information soon.

I want to be clear that I will continue to fight against this administration’s mass firings, and to protect the federal workforce. I will hold more events in the future to support federal workers and those negatively impacted by this Administration, but I also want to highlight the local events below to help those who are already seeking new positions or who just want more information as they try to navigate an unstable job environment.
