Rep. Beyer's Most Recent Commentary On Conflict In Gaza

I am deeply worried about the conflict in Gaza, as are so many of you.

I have been vocal in urging a ceasefire to stop the bloodshed, which should see the end of hostilities, the release of all hostages, and the delivery of more humanitarian assistance for civilians who face dire conditions.

I believe Prime Minister Netanyahu is wrong to oppose a two state solution, and to undermine efforts to establish lasting peace with dignity and security for Israelis and Palestinians alike, and I will keep saying so publicly.

I am also urging the Israeli government to loosen its unacceptable obstruction of food and medical supplies, which are urgently needed in Gaza. And I condemn violence by extremist settlers in the West Bank.

Hamas horrified the world with its vicious attack on October 7th. Israel's long term security and standing in the world - and our own, I fear - will suffer damage that may be irreparable if Israel continues to respond in a way that results in such widespread suffering and loss of Palestinian civilian lives.
