- Huntington
- Van Dorn St.
- Franconia-Springfield

More details on the reasons for this project and the resulting closures are available from WMATA's website.

WMATA will provide buses and shuttles to replace regular train service, and has already issued suggestions for alternative travel options.

Even Northern Virginians who do not travel through these stations should be prepared for significant disruptions in their commutes for the duration of the summer.

WTOP Track Work Guide: Summer 2019 Blue and Yellow Line shutdown

I met earlier this year with WMATA General Manager Paul Wiedefeld to discuss the Platform Improvement Project, and have been in continual contact with leaders of local jurisdictions in preparation. Local governments have engaged in significant preparations to help commuters get to work with minimal delays. I strongly recommend that you take a moment to review those resources for residents of:

Arlington

encouraged the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to expand telework options for the federal workforce while these stations remain closed; they subsequently issued guidance to that effect. I strongly encourage Northern Virginia businesses to follow suit by expanding telework options where possible.

The platform improvement project is part of a larger WMATA effort to improve safety and reliability of the Metro system. Such projects are necessary because decades-long delays to crucial maintenance. To prevent this from happening again, I have cosponsored legislation which would increase federal funding for WMATA as long as key safety and reliability standards are met.

I will continue to look for ways to ease the burden of these station closures on my constituents, and communicate changes and updates as they are available on this page.
