I launched a series of events, called “Rising to the Challenge,” to address the serious issues facing my constituents and support them as they navigate Elon Musk and Donald Trump's illegal and politically motivated purge of the federal workforce. As the first in this series of events, I hosted a federal worker and contractor resource fair with our local government jurisdictions that featured unemployment assistance, financial and career planning advice, legal and policy discussions, food assistance and mental health resources, and more.
The next event in this series is a
Job Fair for Federal Workers and Contractors on May 3, which I am hosting in partnership with the City of Alexandria, the City of Falls Church, Arlington County and Fairfax County. As many of our Northern Virginia neighbors navigate the uncertainty of a career transition, this job fair will allow individuals to connect directly with hiring companies.
Recruiters and hiring managers from a variety of employment sectors will participate including from health care, information technology, local government, the military, consumer electronics, accounting and finance, and federal government professional services.
Participating organizations include: AECOM, Alexandria City Public Schools, Alexandria Police Department, Alexandria Workforce Development Center, AlexRenew, ANSER, Arlington County Sheriff's Office, Arlington Employment Center, Arlington Employment Center, Bay Business Group LLC, Beyer Auto Group, CareFirst, City of Alexandria, City of Falls Church, De Lune Corporation, Fairfax County Government - Neighborhood and Community Services Agency, FedsForward, Financial Empowerment Center at South County, Fort Belvoir Child and Youth Services, Fort Bevloir (MWR), Google, IBEW Local 26, KITA (Korean International Trade Association), Knowledge Advantage Inc., Latino Economic Development Center, LG Electronics, Markon, National Cooperative Bank, New Hope Housing, Northern Virginia Technology Council, Revature, The Springfield Chapter of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), Talent Table DMV by ManpowerGroup, VHC Health, Wegmans
