Congressional Student Advisory Council

Congressman Don Beyer’s Congressional Student Advisory Council (CSAC) is an opportunity for high school students residing in Virginia’s 8th Congressional District to highlight and discuss important issues that face our youth. This program offers a unique opportunity for passionate and driven young leaders to engage with government, collaborate with peers, and serve their communities.


The CSAC is designed to empower the next generation of leaders by providing a platform to voice perspectives on critical issues. Participants will meet directly with Congressman Beyer, special guests, and senior staff members in person. Participants will interact directly with Congressman Beyer, special guests, and senior staff members in six interactive in-person meetings.

Key Program Details:

  • Possibility of academic or community service credit.

Eligibility:

  • Students must either reside in Virginia’s 8th Congressional District.
  • Students must be in 11th or 12th grade when the program begins.

Application Materials:

  • Completed Online Application Form
  • Signed Authorization/Release Form
  • In no more than three paragraphs, please describe why you are interested in joining the CSAC and upload the file through the portal link. Please include your grade during the 2026-2027 school year and the name of your school.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, September 25, 2026.  Meetings will occur outside of school hours, at different locations in Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church and Fairfax, and are subject to possible changes in the Congressional calendar. A total of six meetings will occur during the 2026-2027 school year.
