BEYER STATEMENT ON METRORAIL REPAIR PLAN

May 6, 2016 (Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Representative Don Beyer released the following statement on Metro’s maintenance proposal:

“I am distressed at the pain these service disruptions will bring to commuters.  While I am optimistic that this plan will lead to the safe and reliable Metro we all need and deserve, we must be vigilant to ensure that repairs are done well the first time, and that WMATA does everything possible to minimize the impact on commuters.

“Metro’s safety and maintenance proposal will disproportionately impact Northern Virginians. My office urges regional employers and federal agencies to remind workers of, and consider enhancing, options of telework and flexible work schedules.  I will be posting service updates and details on track-work on a new section of my website, to help disseminate information.”
