House members seek $500M for ARPA-E

Momentum to provide record funding for the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy in fiscal 2020 earned the endorsement of a bipartisan group of 115 House lawmakers this week.

In a letter sent to lead appropriators Monday and made public yesterday, the collection of lawmakers requested the fiscal 2020 Energy-Water spending bill include $500 million for ARPA-E — a $134 million increase from fiscal 2019.

The missive — led by Reps. Don Beyer of Virginia, and Anna Eshoo and Adam Schiff of California — also asked appropriators to provide $111.7 million for Department of Energy innovation hubs and $110 million for Energy Frontier Research Centers.
