Beyer Hails Administration Guidance To Protect Federal Workers

Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA), who represents the largest number of federal workers of any U.S. Representative, issued the following statement today on new guidance from the Office of Management and Budget establishing workplace safety standards to protect employees at federal agencies during the COVID-19 pandemic:

“From the earliest moments of this pandemic I have heard from federal workers concerned that their safety was not valued by agency leaders under the previous administration. The new guidance from the Biden-Harris Administration makes clear that workplace safety will be a top priority going forward, as it should be.

“I commend the Administration for taking these important steps, and encourage their swift implementation across the federal workforce. I also encourage leaders in the federal government to issue clear vaccine guidance to federal workers, and to communicate with state and local leaders about those portions of the workforce which may qualify for vaccination as frontline, essential, or continuity of government workers.”

Beyer previously pressed Trump Administration officials for details on its vaccination strategy for the federal workforce, ultimately without response.
