Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA), who serves on the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, issued the following statement today after the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced it would withdraw the Dirty Water (“Navigable Waters Protection”) Rule, previously issued by the Trump Administration:

“The Dirty Water Rule sold out the American people’s clean water protections to benefit corporate polluters, and I am thrilled to see the Biden-Harris Administration take rapid steps to remove it. Environmental regulations should be based on scientific principles that prioritize public health, not on the desire to help industry’s bottom line. I look forward to future EPA rulemaking that reestablishes strong clean water protections.”
