Beyer Announces Speakers at Annual Women’s Conference

Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA) today announced the speaker slate for his sixth Annual Women’s Conference and Forum, to be held on May 7 at George Mason University’s Arlington campus. Attendees will hear from Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and poet Amanda Gorman by pre-recorded videos, followed by a panel discussion featuring Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia Jamie Lockhart, Tahirih Justice Center CEO Archi Pyati, and Alexandria Health Department Deputy Director Dr. Anne Gaddy. The panel discussion will be moderated by Virginia Delegate Kathy Tran. Dr. Bonnie Stabile of George Mason University will give an introductory welcome, and Rep. Beyer will present the Clara Mortenson Beyer Women and Children First Award to Dr. Tahera Ahmadi. Beyer has hosted the Annual Women’s Conference and Forum in Arlington since taking office in 2015. The event focuses on ways to advance women’s rights, economic empowerment, and gender equality. Past speakers and honorees include Delegate Danica Roem, actress Jane Fonda, and gun violence prevention advocate Naomi Wadler.
