Rep. Don Beyer, who represents a Northern Virginia congressional district with one of the largest concentrations of federal employees in the country, issued the following statement today after a federal judge paused the Elon Musk-authored offer of “deferred resignation” to all federal workers:

“The offer of so-called ‘deferred resignation’ is deceptive and legally dubious. One of the biggest problems for the federal workforce, including tens of thousands of my constituents, is that it denied them the time they need to make a major life decision. This ruling will give them a little more time to evaluate what is on the table, which is a step in the right direction, and I will be closely following developments as the case progresses.”

Earlier today, Beyer published an open letter to federal employees as they consider this offer. His comments in that message remain salient for federal employees weighing next steps as the case progresses in federal court.
