Beyer Urges Northern Virginians: “Stay Home”

Congressman Don Beyer (D-VA) posted a video statement today urging people to “stay home.”

His request came as cases of COVID-19 continued to grow at an alarming rate in the United States. He referred to lessons from the experiences of other countries where social isolation proved the most effective method for flattening the growth curve of coronavirus cases.

“The more aggressively we treat this pandemic, the quicker it’s going to be over and the less we will suffer... We have to come together as a community and take care of one another,” said Beyer.

The full video statement is available here. Beyer previously self-quarantined at the request of the Virginia Department of Health following contact with a friend who subsequently tested positive for COVID-19.

We encourage everyone to wash their hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, disinfect regularly-touched surfaces and objects, avoid touching your face with unwashed hands, put distance (six feet or more) between yourself and others, and to self-isolate if you have symptoms of illness.
