Larson, DelBene, Beyer Introduce Bill to Spur Development of Clean Hydrogen

Washington, D.C. - Today, Reps. John B. Larson (CT-01), Suzan DelBene (WA-01), and Donald Beyer (VA-08) introduced the Clean Hydrogen Production and Investment Tax Credit Act of 2021. This bill would spur the development of clean energy by providing a tax credit to companies that reduce carbon emissions by producing “green” and “blue” hydrogen. By incentivizing the creation of these cleaner fuels we are taking an essential step towards decarbonization. “Our country’s ability to adapt in the face of climate change is crucial to our survival. By encouraging the production of cleaner energy, we are taking the critical steps we need to address climate change while also creating jobs here at home,” said Larson. “This legislation would do just that and support the growing hydrogen energy industry.” "Climate change is an existential threat to our nation and our planet. Shifting to clean energy production is a necessary step in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and addressing the climate crisis. This legislation not only incentivizes that production but creates good-paying jobs across the country,” said DelBene. “The climate crisis is inflicting widespread, lethal damage on our country and the world, and Congress must seize this moment to enact forceful policy changes that will shift America towards clean energy sources,” said Beyer. “This legislation to support development of hydrogen energy would help power an important part of that shift, and create green jobs. I thank Congressman Larson for his leadership in proposing this bill.” |
